First RFID Small Charge Carrier worldwide was awarded
elog@istics award 2007
14. marzo 2007 –Bretten, Germany, 15 March 2007. The AKJ Automotive is a merger of experts from science and business as well as leaders from the automotive and supplier sector. It yearly confers the elog@istics award for innovative technological developments and applications within manufacturing and logistic processes in the automotive industry. Robert Bosch Fahrzeugelektrik (car electrical equipment) Eisenach GmbH and the SEEBURGER AG have been awarded this year during the commemorative event realised yesterday in Saarbruecken, Germany.
Within the awarded project ?Lean Logistics with RFID?, Bosch and SEEBURGER have implemented a RFID solution of small charge carriers (SCC) based on kanban principles. A RFID kanban card is assigned to every SCC. Its transponder stores information such us identification number, material number, production order, quantity etc. The SCCs are bundled in production orders and assigned to the production lines determined by the production planning. In this way the production planning, the manufacturing execution on 60 assembly lines and the inventory storage is controlled automated on SCC level.
The jury ? which is composed by representatives from science and business ? has applied the following main criteria:
- The innovation of the chosen application
- Benefits and added value from the stand point of the main users
- Speed-up effects in the supply chain and order fulfilment
- Scalability and sustainability
The AKJ particularly priced ?the very special combination of a lean logistic concept with the implementation of innovative RFID technologies along the whole plant?.
This scenario was implemented with the help of the SEEBURGER SCM Portal and the SEEBURGER RFID Gateway as a central RFID middleware platform.
